What is ErasmusMates
ErasmusMates is an app for Erasmus students: a city chat with verified access, a daily vote on where to go out, and a flat board.
Why we are doing this
Every semester hundreds of students arrive in a city knowing no one, and the information they need is scattered across seven unmoderated WhatsApp groups, two-year-old Facebook posts and housing portals with expired listings. Our job is to put that in order: one place per city, with verified people and today's information.
Where our data comes from
City figures come from the official Erasmus+ mobility records (academic years 2022 and 2023), in the geolocated version published under a CC BY 4.0 licence. Venues, organisations and links are checked against public sources. The method is explained on the (Spanish) methodology page, and the results are in the ranking of Erasmus destinations of Spanish students.
